Jersey's Other Favorite Son...

Today is a big day. Bruce Springsteen turns 60 today. How many of you knew that? I didn't until I got an alert that mentioned it. Shame on me. My very first concert ever was Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. They were touring Born in the USA. I was 16 and I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Come on, how can you forget this iconic album cover?
I found a couple of sites that had some good articles. In one, the guy who wrote it stated he's been a fan since 1975. He was asked to pick 60 favorite memories and share them. It was pretty cool. He saw the first time Jon Bon Jovi (he was still John Bongiovi at the time) and Bruce sang together in 1980. Jon was playing with the Atlantic City Expressway at the Fast Lane at the time. Look how young they were!
I won't repost all 60 items, but if you click here, you can read them for yourself.
An Article in the New York Daily News talks about his music's and his own durability. It's a great read. I highly recommend it.
This man has been performing and recording music for the better part of 30 years. And in this day and age, that's quite a feat. I'm only sorry I didn't keep up with him. I have apparently missed out on some great music. I think I might have to give him another go.
You truly are an icon Mr. Springsteen and, on this day, as you are preparing for 5 shows at Giants Stadium next week, I wish you a very happy birthday.
