Happy Mother's Day

Saturday, May 9, 2009

I know, I know, I'm a little early with the Mother's Day wishes, but Iam going to be slightly busy tomorrow so I thought I'd get a jump on it now. To all the mothers out there, I hope you enjoy your day.

I've been informed by my son that I am not to do anything tomorrow. He and the hub are taking care of everything. All I have to do is sit around and let them wait on me. I think I can handle that.

Have a fabulous day tomorrow, relax and let yourself be pampered. You deserve it!

Daughtry!!

They were on American Idol last night and debuted a brand spankin' new song! Their new album, Leave this Town, comes out on July 14 and No Surprise is the first single. I can't wait for this!!

Here's the video from last night...

For those of you who watched, you already know they were presented with a plaque for their debut album, Daughtry, going 5 times platinum, selling 5 million copies. Amazing!

You can't tell me that Leave This Town won't do at least that well, but I have no doubt that it will do better!

If you want more information about the band and/or the album, go to Daughtry Official, the official Daughtry website.

Jon Bon Jovi to play accoustic concert for Corzine
by: Rosi Efthim

Mon May 04, 2009 at 11:39:16 PM EDT

Jon Bon Jovi, a longtime supporter of Democratic candidates, will do an accoustic concert in June at NJ Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), a fundraiser for Jon Corzine's re-election campaign. And though some tickets slide up to $3,400 for Host Committee participants going to the private reception before the concert, there will also be plenty of tickets priced at $50.

You can get them here.

I've never been to a Bon Jovi accoustic concert, but doing a little digging, I found this video. I's very short on visuals, in fact it's a little weird to look at, but the audience response just knocks me out. New Jersey's home turf fo Jon Bon Jovi so I'm thinking there might be some serious audience participation June 4 when he comes up to sing for the Governor.

Jazz Fest 2009, by Anthony Kuzminski

Found this in my alerts this morning. I wasn't there, pity me, but I have to say, I had to agree with him about the set list thing. They (meaning Jon) could have done a better job of mixing it up with the songs. The catalog the band has is so diverse there were many other songs they could have chosen. Hell, they could have done an acoustic set or a set with a more TLFR vibe, but they stuck the oldies but goodies and the crowd got the same ol' same ol'.

Here's part of what Mr. K had to say in regards to the set list...

What frosts me about the New Orleans set list is that it’s a edited Lost Highway one with none of the pizzazz. I believe artists take their art and find a way to transform it to the times. Unlike painters of film artists, musicians can wield their vast catalogs nightly in ways no other artist can combine different periods. In Bon Jovi’s case, they have dozens of songs that could speak to the conditions of the city’s current situation; their nightmares, their hopes and their dreams. What does Bon Jovi do? They deliver a static, predictable and uninspired set that reads like the band slept through its delivery.

For the rest of what he had to say, go here.

Jazz Fest 2009...

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Well, there were a plethora of pictures floating around from Jazz Fest today. I also found a video or three over on YouTube, most of which were just snippets of songs. The one whole song I found I shared below.

Here's the set list, it seems to be pretty much their standard one as of late...

Livin' On A Prayer, Lost Highway, Born to Be My Baby, You Give Love A Bad Name, Raise Your Hands, Summertime, In These Arms, Sleep When I'm Dead, I Love This Town, We Got It Going On, It's My Life, Have A Nice Day, Keep The Faith, Who Says You Can't Go Home, Bad Medicine - Shout

Encore: Wanted Dead or Alive, Someday I'll Be Saturday Night, Twist and Shout

I haven't found a review yet, but I'm working on it. If and when I find one, I'll be sure to share it here.

About Me

My photo
I am and always have been a Bon Jovi fan. This blog is just my obsession taken a step further, my imagination in high gear if you will. I love to read and decided to see what would happen when I took that love of the written word and ramped it up a bit.
