How about Hugh?

Friday, March 20, 2009

If you remember, yesterday I had a tiny tribute to Richie here on my blog. I had an anonymous poster ask about Huey. She got me to thinking. The poor man never gets recognized. I searched the internet and found a few pics, but he is so much in the background it was hard to find much of anything. Where is the love for this gifted bassist?

So, for you my anonymous commenter, here are a few facts about your man Hugh... according to Wikipedia anyway...

Hugh McDonald (born December 28, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a session musician and bassist. He has played with many artists both live and in the studio, and has recorded with Willie Nelson, Richie Sambora, Steve Goodman, Ringo Starr, Bon Jovi, Lita Ford, Michael Bolton, Cher, Alice Cooper, Jon Bon Jovi, Ricky Martin, and others.

He is currently working with Bon Jovi and has been doing so since Alec John Such's departure after 'Cross Road' was released in 1994, but is still regarded as an 'unofficial' member of Bon Jovi. Although he records with the band in studio and performs live on stage and during publicity performances, McDonald is left out of publicity shoots and album covers. Band members say they agreed never to officially replace former bass player Alec John Such. He has appeared on Bon Jovi singer Jon Bon Jovi's solo album Destination Anywhere, and recorded on one of Bon Jovi's original demos, Runaway.

His childhood inspiration was Paul McCartney

My Richie Fix for the Day...

Thursday, March 19, 2009

By now, most of you know that I have never been able to choose between my two favorite men. There are days, however, where I favor one more than the other. Today is one of those days. I am in a serious Richie mood today. I'm going to add some pics to my Pics 'n Stuff page when I'm done here, so be sure to go check that out as well.

But, back to this post.

For some reason I couldn't embed the video here (the owner has that disabled), but this is one of my fave Richie songs, EVER. He performed it in Nashville in 2007 and I found this gem while I was pokin' around on YouTube.

Enjoy!!

Dancing with the Stars...

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

So this week I was totally surprised at how well Denise did. She and her partner Max danced the quick step and our love-to-hate-you blonde did quite well and, as I'm forced to admit, much better than last week.

Damn... it's not that I want to see anyone fall on their face or anything, but I didn't want her to be doing as well as she is. I guess we just have to wait and see what next week brings.

Here's what MSN had to say this week...

Denise Richards
After a rather mediocre first showing, Denise and Maksim quickstepped their way right into the middle of the pack this week. The judges were downright enthusiastic about Denise's improved performance. And, yes, I admit her footwork was much better than last week, I just feel like there's something missing from the overall picture.

Score: 21/30 (39/60)

Crossroads

Sunday, March 15, 2009

One of my favorite episodes of CMT's Crossroads was Sugarland and Bon Jovi. I watch it quite frequently (just about wore out my tape!) I was puttering around YouTube and found this gem. It's my favorite song from that episode.

Enjoy!

About Me

My photo
I am and always have been a Bon Jovi fan. This blog is just my obsession taken a step further, my imagination in high gear if you will. I love to read and decided to see what would happen when I took that love of the written word and ramped it up a bit.
