Bon Jovi to Be Named 'Legend of Live' at Billboard Touring Conference & Awards
Iconic rock band Bon Jovi will be named the 2016 Legend of Live by Billboard at the 13th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, a celebratory event dedicated to the live music industry held November 9-10 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The Legend Of Live award is Billboard's highest accolade in the live entertainment space, recognizing professionalism and steadfast commitment to the art and craft of live performance. It honors artists who have made significant and lasting contributions to the touring business. The Legend Of Live award transcends success at the box office in the current year and recognizes a body of work across a lengthy career.
Bon Jovi, led by the creative and strategic force, Jon Bon Jovi, is a box-office smashing headliner, grossing well over $1 billion in ticket sales around the world in the past decade and ranking as the top touring band in the world three times in six years (a feat accomplished by only one other band in history, the Rolling Stones). As the band prepares to release their fourteenth studio album, This House Is Not for Sale on October 21st (Island/UMG), they are again delivering anthems of integrity and optimism to legions of fans as they have done for over three decades.
Bon Jovi will join a prestigious group of Legend of Live honorees, including Bob Seger, who was honored in 2015, as well as past honorees like Lionel Richie, Sir Elton John, Neil Diamond, George Strait, Rush, Journey, the Allman Brothers Band, and Ozzy Osbourne.
"With an undeniable legacy and current status as a world class, stadium-level touring act, we think Bon Jovi is uniquely deserving to be named a Legend Of Live," says Ray Waddell, Billboard's executive director of content and programming for touring and live entertainment. "To paraphrase their own hit, they've seen 20 million faces -- at least -- and rocked them all."
The 2015 Billboard Touring Conference & Awards sold out with a record number of attendees and featured a special Q&A with Brad Paisley, a three-time Grammy winning singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer.
