Has he been to so many places, he's forgotten where he's been already?

Bon Jovi's geography gaffe in Croatia

Rock star Jon Bon Jovi has failed to pass a kind of a geography exam when he told journalists in Dubrovnik this was his first visit to Croatia.

"It is beautiful here. This is my first time in Croatia. People and architecture have pleasantly surprised me," Jon Bon Jovi told RTL television. However, he had forgotten that he had a concert in Croatian capital Zagreb in June this year. Or he did not know Zagreb was Croatia, too.

Jon Bon Jovi is staying for a holiday in the ancient town of Dubrovnik in southern Croatia.

you have no idea how much this is pissing off Croatian fans and I'm actually annoyed that it's spreading around these places too. Instead of being happy he decided to visit, people are taking the piss.
He's not a moron. Saying you come somewhere 'for the first time' can be a first time in general. He's been to Croatia for the first time, after so long, and this and the June show both probably encompass a first time. But I suppose it's more fun to just make fun of both him and Richie endlessly. I wonder how people never seem to tire of it.

Don't know if he meant 1st time as a vacation, because he has said to reporters that all he sees when he is working is the hotel the ride to and from the airport and the venue. This time he has his family and it's a Vacation.

Croatian people seem to be really insecure about their country. They need to chill.

Once again, the press creates a context that fools the reader. I GUARANTEE Jon simply meant this is the first time he's visited Croatia and seen the country, the people, the culture, the scenery.

The man probably was in and out of the stadium in a limo, to a hotel, and out of the country before he could see so much as a restaurant when they played Zagreb. It was an intense touring summer.

Yet if he had counted that as "seeing the country", people would have been pissed too, saying there was more to Croatia than a first-class hotel and the stadium in Zagreb, calling him an ignorant American, blah blah blah.

So he can't win, lol.

In other news, I'm happy he's enjoying some down time in Europe with his family! He needs rest!

Yes Becky exactly. Not to mention that, if he didn't come to Croatia for the concert to begin with, he likely wouldn't have gotten the recommendation to come back for vacay.

As I said, it's incredibly annoying for Croatian fans to hear about him coming, be elated for a sec, and then have it ruined by BS. The Richie bizarre-country thing spun out of control as well, and now this is even more pointless, because the first thought of a normal non-reporter jackass person would be to just be happy they picked their country to sightsee.

For those of you kind people who are interested, there are some more pics and links on this forum:

You'll have to skip the Croatian chitchat, but there are some more photos and links there.
