Bon Jovi kick off their Australian tour
BON Jovi opened their tour Down Under with the ubiquitous Blaze of Glory last night in Perth.
The seasoned performers are expert at keeping the stadium masses at fever pitch with a balanced set of the anthems and the freshly baked, so fans don't have to suffer an indulgent block of the new stuff to get the old stuff.
When We Were Beautiful is backed up by It's My Life and Bad Medicine is mashed with Shout. Bon Jovi know how to work the crowd like a conductor - when to get the singalongs and the overhead clapalongs going.
The enduring rockers - who join a megastar line-up of tours here including U2, The Eagles, Muse and Linkin Park - delivered three decades of hits, which have seen the band sell more than 100 million albums worldwide.
Jon Bon Jovi revealed exclusively to The Daily Telegraph just before taking the stage that the band will also preform a medley of their hits during Oprah Winfrey's Sydney shows.
While much has been made of U2's "claw" staging, Bon Jovi have brought state-of-the-art video technology and a circular catwalk for their Circle tour.
The frontman said he valued the loyalty of the band's Australian fans, but said the New Jersey rockers had almost run out of venues to play across the world.
"We haven't played Greece or Israel; they're two places I'd like to take the band," Jon Bon Jovi said.
Bon Jovi will perform an 'intimate" gig for about 1500 fans at Star City on December 15 and then open a three-night stand at the Sydney Football Stadium on December 17.
IN an Australian exclusive, Bon Jovi will stream LIVE the first 30 minutes of their concert this weekend.
Live stream details
On Saturday December 11 from Etihad Stadium at 8pm (AEDT), fans all over Australia will be able to have a taste of a LIVE Bon Jovi concert in their own home on The Daily Telegraph website and other sister News Limited websites in partnership with Bon Jovi, MCM Media and Movideo.
Tickets for Bon Jovi's Sydney show at the Sydney Football Stadium on December 19 can still be purchased from Ticketek.
