Back to School...

You'll all be glad to know that little man survived his first day of middle school. He was pretty nervous, but it was all for naught. Other than the bus not showing up this morning, school went pretty much as expected.
Dropping him off this morning was harder on me than on him I'm sure. New school, new kids, going through a metal detector and having his bag scanned. It's a whole new world out there for him. It makes me nervous, but I'm the mom, it's supposed to, right?
There was a whole sea of new faces for him to deal with today and as I drove off this morning after he got out of the car my only thought was he was going to get lost in that huge crowd and never find his way.
But he did.
He even enjoyed himself.
And he got on the right bus to come home this afternoon which, considering he's riding a city bus and not a lovely yellow school bus was pretty good for the first day. He then proceeded to complain about having to walk a block and a half from the bus stop to our house. Pretty typical for a 12-year old.
All in all, it was a good school day for him. New school, new faces, new friends to make. He even has homework. I think it's going to be a good year for him.
Oh, I get to stop and pick up the pizza on my way home from work. He deserves it, don't you think?
