Richie Sambora and Orianthi Duet on Sonny & Cher's 'I Got You Babe' Just in Time for Valentine's Day

Love is in the air and RSO is on the speakers!

To kick off the Valentine’s Day festivities, Richie Sambora and Orianthi have released a modern rendition of Sonny & Cher’s 1965 hit “I Got You Babe” on Thursday.

“‘I Got You Babe’ is one of the best duets of all time and it’s a song that reminds us that true affection has no limitations,” the couple said in a joint statement to PEOPLE. “Ori and I loved paying homage to this timeless Sonny & Cher classic.”

When the former Bon Jovi guitarist, 58, first met the Australian singer, 33, in Hawaii in 2013, sparks flew — both creatively and romantically. Now, the match made in heaven has a whole lot of love to spread to their fans. The pair are also releasing a new original song titled “Forever All the Way.”

“We’ve been doing our own duets and writing so much music together as RSO, and ‘Forever All The Way’ is a song we wrote about sincere commitment,” they added. “And just like Valentine’s Day, this song isn’t only about romance, it’s also about love for a child, a parent, a friend, or a family member.”

After writing nearly 70 songs over a two-year period, RSO’s first release came in September 2017 in the form of a five-song EP called Rise. Their debut full-length album is due out in April.

“I Got You Babe” and “Forever All The Way” are available for purchase and download now.

Backstory: An Evening of Music and Conversation w/Richie Sambora & Orianthi (RSO)

Join us for a unique opportunity to be part of the studio audience at this intimate conversation with Richie Sambora and Orianthi. The pair has joined forces for a new, genre-spanning musical project under the name RSO that sees these two platinum-selling singer-songwriters and world-class guitarists teaming up as a duo. They recently released a five-track EP called Rise, and there will be more music coming soon. The evening features a long-form interview, short performance, and opportunity for audience questions.

Richie Sambora and Orianthi will be interviewed by author and journalist Brad Tolinski. The event is part of the BackStory Events online series and will be live streamed by Guitar World magazine.

About Richie Sambora and Orianthi (RSO):

American rock icon, Songwriters Hall of Famer, and founding member of multi-platinum, Grammy-winning band Bon Jovi, Sambora (who has sold over 130 million albums worldwide and has co-written over 20 Top 40 hits and 11 Top 10 hits) and Australian guitar virtuoso Orianthi (who has shared stages with the likes of Michael Jackson, Santana, Prince, ZZ Top and was the first female member of Alice Cooper’s band) have both written chart-busting singles, toured the globe extensively, collaborated with superstar artists, and released three solo albums each. Their new collaboration, RSO, sees Sambora and Orianthi teaming up as a duo for a genre-spanning musical project encompassing elements of rock, blues, pop, R&B and country. They have plenty of stadium-ready melodies, uplifting lyrics, and top-notch musicianship, and the Rise EP is just the first taste of a lot more music to come from RSO. The harmonious blend of Sambora and Orianthi’s voices and guitars are front and center, putting a fresh spin on male-female duets. RSO displays the combustible chemistry that Sambora and Orianthi have both onstage and off.

Richie on Comedy Central...

Monday, March 27, 2017

So, Richie made an appearance, sans Orianthi, on the Comedy Channel last week on The Comedy Jam:

As we prepare for Bon Jovi's return to Wells Fargo Center on March 31, we found this entertaining moment in which Comedy Central's Chris Hardwick tells a fun story about an interaction with Tom Cruise and then breaks into a jam of 'Dead or Alive' with Richie Sambora.  Hardwick's costume certainly brings up back to the 80's.

Fun stuff right there...

As an aside, I thought Richie looked and sounded really good.

I miss him...

No Richie on 2017 Bon Jovi Tour...

Wednesday, June 8, 2016

This almost made me say "no duh" out loud.  Good thing no one was here at work when I read it.  Really, People?!

Richie Sambora Has 'No Plans' To Rejoin Bon Jovi 2017 Tour, Choosing to Continue Spending Time with Daughter Ava, Says Source

Richie Sambora Has No Plans To Rejoin Bon Jovi 2017 TourRichie Sambora won't be joining the Bon Jovi tour in 2017, choosing instead to continuespending time with his daughter, Ava, a source close to the rocker tells PEOPLE.
"Richie's schedule is busier now than ever, except a lot of it is with his family and around those he truly loves," the source says.

Sambora is not touring with Bon Jovi for "the same reasons" he opted to leave the band in 2013, the source says. "He wants to spend quality time with Ava," his 18-year-old daughter with ex-wife Heather Locklear, says the source, especially now that she is in college.

The legendary guitarist, singer and songwriter has also been busy recording his first partnered album with girlfriend Orianthi Panagaris in Vancouver, where he and Ava were spotted out and about on Monday. Sambora and Orianthi are putting the "final touches" on the new album, the source says.
"They are so happy together," says the source. "They have so much in common. They both love jamming guitars, writing and producing songs and of course performing. It's their passion."

Famed producer Bob Rock, the force behind such iconic albums as Bon Jovi'sSlippery When Wet, Metallica's Black Album and Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood, is producing Sambora and Orianthi's album, which is as of yet untitled.

"It's far beyond anything he has ever done, so he is excited about it," the source says. "He loves working with Bob, who is a record producing god."

Sambora, who formed the band RSO with Orianthi, is "gearing up with excitement to tour" the source says. They are scheduled to play in Brazil this summer and will hit the road in October with Bad Company’s Swan Song eight-city tour in the U.K.

"Life is really good for him, right now," says the source. "He feels so free. He said to me, 'I'm just getting warmed up!'"

Richie + Orianthi = Sonny & Cher?

Richie Sambora Says His Album With Orianthi Is ‘Sonny and Cher on Steroids’

While Bon Jovi is looking to have their next album, This House Is Not for Sale, out next month, their former guitarist has been prepping his own record. Richie Sambora and his girlfriend Orianthi talked a bit about the work that they’ve been working on for about two years.

Speaking on the red carpet at the Billboard Power 100 in the video above, Sambora said, “It’s basically Sonny and Cher on steroids. We looked back on our career and saw the different styles of music that we did and, when you make a record, obviously, you have to own it. After 40 years in this business I know if we owned it or not.”

“I can’t wait for everyone to hear it,” Orianthi, who has shared stages with Alice CooperSteve Vai and Carlos Santana, said. “We’ve been working hard on it and [we’re] finishing it up really soon, so something should be out in the next few months. I’m hoping, you know. We have to decide on a single, but it’s a really big-sounding album and I can’t wait to play it live, too […] Richie’s singing his butt off, playing his butt off and writing with him, too, has, you know, been really great — a lot of fun.”

Sambora talked to Ultimate Classic Rock last year where he said that the couple had “started recording right at the beginning of January,” and they had stockpiled about 60 songs in the 11 months prior to that. “We hit a nerve about probably 20 songs in that we knew we were onto something. I think those 20 are really good songs,” he added, “but stylistically we started to hit our vein around 20 in and it just kept getting better and better and then we were just bouncing [songs] off of my producer friends, Dave Stewart, Bob Rock, Michael Bearden — just great people.”

Bon Jovi to release 14th album ‘This House Is Not For Sale’

Bon Jovi

Not only are Bon Jovi fans anxiously awaiting the band’s latest tunes, but for die-hard fans, a new Bon Jovi album usually means that a new worldwide tour will accompany the new album. For Bon Jovi  lovers who have never had the pleasure of attending a Bon Jovi live concert, you will not be disappointed. During your three-hour experience fans can look forward to being entertained by the band performing their all your old favorites, mixed with  new songs and a few added spontaneous surprises thrown in by Jon and the boys.

What Bon Jovi fans can expect

This Spring Bon Jovi fans can look forward to in the new album which Jon stated that the band  has recorded all together. “We were recording at different times and different rooms in the studio,” Bon Jovi explained about how the  past recording processes used to work.

“That’s not happening anymore. We went back to the place where we cut “Runaway” in 1982–where I used to sweep the floor and fetch coffee. And, we did “This House Is Not For Sale.” He joked that he was still pouring coffee for bandmates, keyboardist David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres.

Bon Jovi also discussed what the new record will entail. “This record is about our integrity,” he said. “Integrity matters and we’re at a stage of our career where we don’t have anything left to prove. Some songs have a little more of the ‘chip on my shoulder’ sound which is OK for us to have right now.”

“When I wrote ‘Runaway’ in 1982, my viewpoint wasn’t that big, but with every record and passing decade of our career, we evolve,” he began.

“We keep our eyes open, let information in and write about the world around us. We really  couldn’t write ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’ now. It was great when I was 25 but not at 53.”

First Bon Jovi album minus Richie Sambora

This tidbit has to be mentioned, “This House Is Not For Sale” will be the first Bon Jovi album sans Jon Bon Jovi’s former right-hand man and lead guitarist Richie Sambora.

Opening an old wound for Jovi fans, Sambora quit the Bon Jovi tour mid-tour citing personal reasons back in 2013.  Over the years, many have remained confident that Richie would be returning to their beloved Bon Jovi, but as time has moved on that hope has become farther, and farther from reality.

Despite the bitterness of the Sambora incident of 2013 many lifelong on Jovi fans are predicting that this could be some of the band’s best work in years, with, or without Richie Bon Jovi is still a huge rock and roll force to be reckoned with in 2016 and for many years to come. What are your thoughts, are you anxious to hear the new Bon Jovi album “This House Is Not For Sale?”

Look for “This House Is Not For Sale” from Bon Jovi in March.

Star Spangled Sambora...

Thursday, January 15, 2015

So, I'm more than a little behind on things of late.  But such is life these days.  I found this has been sitting in my inbox forever so I thought I should share it before I delete it.

Richie Sambora sang the National Anthem before the Breeder's Cup way back in November.  It is a tough song to sing and I think he did a good job.

What do you think?

Bon Jovi ALS Ice Bucket Challenge - UPDATED!!

Monday, August 18, 2014

Richie came thru!
As I noted in my previous post, he had been out of the country but he's back home now and he accepted the challenge...

As I am sure you all know by now, Jon Bon Jovi was challenged to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.  He readily accepted the challenge and called out David Bryan, Tico Torres and Richie Sambora to do the same.

Tico also accepted the challenge.  He called out Tiger Woods, Alice Cooper and Ernie Els...

David, too, accepted the challenge.  He called out Richard Saker, Gavin DeGraw and Ryan Cabrera.

The only slacker right now is Richie.  Granted, he is out of the country, but still, they have ice, water  and buckets in Japan, don't they?

Come on Richie, where's your video?!
