For the past 10 days Triple M's The Sweetest Plum has been helping Bon Jovi find a band to support them for their Sydney and Melbourne shows at next month's Circle Tour.

One band in each city will get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to support the mighty Jov. After hundreds of entries poured in, the Triple M music programmers have scoured through them all.

As the current leg of Bon Jovi's The Circle Tour draws to a close, we're asking YOU, Bon Jovi's most loyal fans, to create a blog describing your dream Bon Jovi concert experience. The winner will receive two tickets to Bon Jovi's last show of this leg of the Circle Tour on July 31st at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL!

I read this and got all excited.  Then I read the "Official Contest Rules."  This contest is for 2 tickets only (valued at $200).  No airfare, no accommodations.  They will announce the winner on July 28.  The concert is on July 31.  How are you supposed to make flight and hotel arrangements on such short notice? 

When I went to NMS back in  May I had all my arrangements made months ahead of time.  Trying to get a flight at that late date will be nearly impossible, not to mention costing an arm and a leg.  As much as they said this contest is open to residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and Canada (excluding Quebec), in my opinion it's aimed at Chicago residents.  Who else would be able to get to a concert in a city not their own on such short notice?  Again, that's just my opinion.  I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from entering.  I might even write up something myself.  I'm just curious as to why they are only giving the winner three days' notice to get her or himself to Chicago for the show.

Wanna Open for Bon Jovi?

Bon Jovi is giving local bands a chance to open for them during their residency at London's O2 Arena...


Bon Jovi Appeal For Bands To Open London Shows

Bon Jovi are offering aspiring musicians a once-in-a-lifetime shot at fame - they're giving up-and-coming bands the chance to open for the rock icons when they take to the stage in London this summer.

The Livin' On A Prayer hit-makers will perform a 12-date residency at the O2 Arena next month and they want new talent to warm up for them on their five opening dates. Applicants have been invited to upload content about their band online at OpenForBonJovi.com. The information will then be judged by a panel of industry experts, including Bon Jovi's management company, to determine the five finalists.

A post on the website reads: "If you are in a band, looking for a break - then this is as good as it gets... We are looking for 5 fresh and promising new bands to fill the opening nights at The O2 arena... Start uploading videos and content which proves that you're good enough to open for Bon Jovi."

Entrants have until May 31st to take part in the competition. Bon Jovi kick off their O2 residency on June 7th and will be supported by Kid Rock and OneRepublic on their remaining London dates.
