Is it any wonder why we are all stressed and suffering from sleep deprivation more than half the time? Here it is, Monday morning and I'm sitting here looking at my computer screen through bleary eyes wondering where the hell my weekend went. It seems like I was just leaving on Friday with the whole of my weekend ahead of me. Where did it go?
Well, for starters, Friday night the hub, little man and I headed to the Nickelback concert that was going on about an hour from where I live. The line-up, Saving Abel (which we missed entirely because of the damn traffic), Papa Roach (managed to catch one song), Hinder and then, without further ado, Nickelback. They totally rocked, but I have to tell you, Chad Kroeger likes to chat. Between every song. And uses that lovely "F" word every chance he gets. I had to keep telling little man not to repeat it until he's 25. Got the pre-teen eye roll for that comment.
Oh, lest I forget, we weren't there ten minutes when the drunk chick behind threw her beer all over the three of us. That was fun. And after the third time she bumped into me I was ready to knock her on her ass, but hub convinced me that would not be in my best interest. They did, however, move their asses somewhere else on the lawn. Outdoor concerts are fun, don't you think?
On Saturday we had a thunderstorm that shook the rafters and deluged us with rain so hard you couldn't see where you were going. Needless to say, the computer didn't get turned on. Hence, I missed THE birthday of the weekend. I have to apologize to my loyal followers for that egregious error. Our Mr. Sambora (or as I like to refer to him, "Tall Dark and Sexy") turned 50 on Saturday and I totally missed it. After the storm passed we had to head out to a graduation party and a bonfire and four bottles of wine at my sister's house later, I didn't have a chance to post anything here for that monumentous occasion.
So, I'm sorry to my followers for not having a post honoring Tall Dark and Sexy for his special day Saturday. And to you Mr. Sambora, I hope you found a fun and fabulous way to spend your special day and wish you many more to come.
One last thing, yesterday I packed little man off to camp for the week. A whole week. First time he's ever been away from us for that long. It's odd to have the house so quiet. None of his friends came around yesterday, no video game noises from the living room, no shout of "mom I'm going outside!", nothing. It's weird. I stood in his doorway this morning looking at his empty bed wondering how he got so grown up so fast. He was just in diapers yesterday, wasn't he? Now he's 12 and off to camp for a week without mom and dad (or his Nintendo DS, TV, etc. I hope he's surviving).
*Sigh*
Real life is beckoning... oh wait, that's boss man. Time to get to work.
